Asperger’s syndrome is actually one of the main syndromes within the autism spectrum disorder. Those who are afflicted by this will then showcase much problems in social interaction and will feel that they can only exhibit common and even stereotyped patterns of interest and behaviour. Usually, Asperger’s will begin during the development stages in an infant, and sometimes in young children. In adults, this is much more uncommon and instances when adults do get Asperger’s is quite rare and more than likely a relapse of what they already had when they were a young child.

Classified as one of the developmental disorders that are pervasive, one can often spot the Asperger’s syndrome by the individuals complete inability to socially interact with their peers and with their social surroundings. They are often hampered in their communication abilities and will not be able to express themselves as well as normal people. They will also have difficulties developing the normal linguistic, cognitive and social interaction abilities that normal children will show when they reach a certain age. Learning language is also one of the problems in children and they will often stutter and thus use their physical limbs as forms of communication. As it is within the spectrum of autism, the sufferer will also form a deep and emotional bond with their guardian and their parents, which means that they will always want to be in the protective circle of their loved ones – or the parent that they have formed the strongest bond with.

Finding and making friends would be quite difficult for the child because they would not know how to effectively communicate with anyone at all, and will not be able to hold a conversation or even exhibit the sort of explosive and spontaneous social abilities that pave the way for making friendships. They will also showcase restricted and very repetitive behaviour, and sometimes they will seem fixated on a subject or object for hours on end. They will also seem to have great interest in particular interest and will collect loads of information on specific subjects which seem to make no sense at all. Their veracious focus on a certain subject – and their special interest might change as time goes by. This is the most difficult of symptoms to recognise and interest in subjects often catch the attention of children and you need to be able to distinguish from normal child like curiosity to something more disturbing like Asperger’s.

Also, some of the more uncommon symptoms might include the inability to sleep and the inability to co ordinate their motor skills, which would mean that these people might lose their balance quite often. It is quite important that you educate yourself on the symptoms of Asperger’s in more details and learn the ways in which you can spot it early, because therapy and psychological help at that stage can mean the difference between stopping it early or letting it go uncontrolled for a long time.
